Saturday,
March 19, 2005 Convention - in conjunction with the
Toledo Hamfest (Sunday, March 20, 2005)
This Convention is a day of seminars
(see SEMINARS) on current ham radio topics and Division
activities featuring FCC Special Council Riley Hollingsworth
along with other major ham radio speakers and topics. The
Convention concludes with a Banquet Saturday evening
highlighted by speaker Riley Hollingsworth. Then, Sunday,
the Convention moves to the Toledo
Hamfest - one of the largest Hamfests in Ohio. The
Convention ticket is a free pass. Transportation is
available to the Hamfest location. [Picture: part of one

Seminars
& Banquet
Seminars begin at
12:00 p.m. Noon, Saturday at the Toledo Holiday Inn. Two
separate meeting rooms are reserved for seminars.
The Banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. For all those who qualify, a
Wouff Hong installation ceremony will begin 20 minutes after
the Banquet concludes.

FCC Special Council for Amateur Radio Enforcement Riley
Hollingsworth, K4ZDH, will be the Seminar presenter, and
Convention Banquet and Hamfest speaker. He will be available

An acknowledging letter will be sent to all paid

available at the Toledo Holiday Inn beginning at 10 a.m.

Wouff
Hong
Since this is a Division Convention, a special induction
ceremony of the Royal Order of the Wouff Hong will be
presented after the Banquet. Although other parts of the
ceremony are secret and cannot be discussed here, the
ceremony will be monitored by the SPCA and all animals,
including the goat, will not be harmed in any way during the
proceedings.

The Seminars are the
hallmark of a Division Convention. Quality Seminars which
will be scheduled to allow you to attend four of the seven
offered. Beside being the Evening Banquet Speaker, Riley
Hollingsworth, K4ZDH, will conduct an hour long FCC
Seminar to be attended by all. The remaining quality
lineup includes (1) DX Seminar by Wayne Mills,
N7NG/1; (2) High Speed Multi-Media (HSMM)
by Jim Kvochick, WB8AZP; (3) Setting up Your HF
Mobile Station by Darrell Pace, N8FTS; (4)
WinLink 2000 by Ohio SEC John Chapman, WB8INY;
(5) PSK-31 by Jeff Breitner, KA8NCR; and (6)
Ham Radio Clubs conference organized by Michigan ACC
Dan Romanchik, KB6NU.
The final Seminar will be
Director Weaver and the Presentation of the Division
awards:
Awards
Division awards will be presented at the Convention.
Winners of the following four awards will be announced: Tbe
George Wilson III, W4OYI, Lifetime Achievement Award;
Division Ham of Year; Division Technical Achievement Award;
and Division Best Ham Radio Newsletter.

Amenities
Located within minutes of the Toledo
Hamfest site and shopping. Transportation is available
upon request from the hotel front desk (no charge) to and
from the Hamfest throughout the day Sunday for those
attending who have reserved rooms in the Inn.
Toledo is centrally located in the Great Lakes Division. The
Hamfest is
at 2901 Key St., Maumee, OH. Take I-75 to I-475 (US RT 23)
to Exit 6, W. Dussel Dr. [41 deg. 34.999 min. N. x 83
deg. 38.695 min. W], 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The
Convention is a little north of Dussel Dr. on US RT 20 (S.
Reynolds Rd.) [41 deg. 35.873 min. N. x 83 deg. 39.890
min. W].
There will be plenty of social time built into the day,
plenty of time to swap DX stories, contests, new modes and
other aspects of our special hobby.
RV's/Camping
RV's may park on the Hamfest site at no additional cost
beyond the Hamfest admission ticket.
